Happy Thanksgiving

From the Linthicum family to your family…

Happy Thanksgiving and God’s blessings to all…

No one communicates from their heart better than Pres. Ronald Reagan. In fact, he says all that I would like to say during this 2016 Thanksgiving. His message was simple – there is nothing more precious than Liberty! Let us never take for granted our hard bought Liberties, but rededicate ourselves to their defense and be ever thankful for the freedom we enjoy.

Read his words:

“Good morning, everyone. You know, the Statue of Liberty and this wonderful holiday called Thanksgiving go together naturally because although as Americans we have many things for which to be thankful, none is more important than our liberty. Liberty: that quality of government, that brightness of mind and spirit for which the Pilgrim Fathers braved the seas and Americans for two centuries have laid down their lives

“Today, while religion is suppressed in perhaps one third of the world, we Americans are free to worship the Almighty as we choose. While entire nations must endure the yoke of tyranny, we are free to speak our minds, to enjoy an unfettered and vigorous press, and to make government abide by the limits we deem just. While millions live behind walls, we remain free to travel throughout the land to share this precious day with those we love most deeply – the members of our families.

“My fellow Americans, let us keep this Thanksgiving Day sacred. Let us thank God for the bounty and goodness of our nation. And as a measure of our gratitude, let us rededicate ourselves to the preservation of this: the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

-Ronald Reagan

From our family to yours, “Happy Thanksgiving!”

Cultivate Liberty

How was your Independence Day Celebration?

You probably never gave a thought to Hillary’s crimes, the $19 trillion dollar national debt, local unemployment, the unbridled money printing schemes of the Federal Reserve, the bad science and policy oozing from every corner of the federal bureaucracy or whether your conversations were being recorded – Good for you!

Our day was full of…

Thanks for being part of our Conservative Victory!!

Thanks for your vote, support, prayers, and hard work. We could not have won this primary without you!

As we look towards the general election this November, I encourage you to hold fast to the exceptional ideals of America. Without a solid foundation of knowledge, wisdom and character, we cannot defeat tyrannical leftist culture and policies.

So, I urge all of my friends to spend a few minutes on the 3 R’s:

As Republicans, we should be different from the progressive left. We stand apart with thoughtfulness, history and freedom on our side, aspiring to individual liberty, not political control.

Thank you again for voting for Constitutional values and true conservatism. I know there’s a lot of work yet to be done as we fight for our public land use, timber industry, water rights and other real-world concerns – but today, I am elated that our values succeeded in this primary battle. Together, we can do great things for Oregon and I am so honored by your support.

Hold fast to your Republican ideals,
Hold fast to your yard signs too: we’ll need them in November!

(Or, call Diane, 541-892-6512, to arrange for a pick up.)

Thanks for Your VOTE !!

The Elites are Out of Touch

Back in March, I drove to Salem and paid $25 to run for Senate District 28. So many people have asked me about the filing, and the answer to why I am running is simple: I care about my community and about rural Oregon, unlike the liberals who are so upset about my candidacy. Every registered Republican in this district had from September 2015  through March 8, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. to file for office. No one else did so.

As a conservative, I’m happy to debate anyone, anytime about the principles of limited government and individual liberty. I think that the ideals of American exceptionalism and free-market capitalism can defeat any other ideology, any day.

Unfortunately, my opponents know they can’t win, so they don’t want to have an open debate – instead, they create a false narrative, tricking voters and accumulating more power for themselves.

For instance, look at this postcard from the liberal traitors in our own Republican party promoting an individual who personally claims to be, “a moderate, who is willing to cross the aisle and work with Democrats”:

As you read this propaganda, do you wonder why his “moderate credentials” are left off?

Plus, every registered Republican in Senate District #28 has been receiving calls from large-scale call-centers, trying to influence voters while pretending to simply be polling for opinions.

This is the new trend in dirty politics – using big money to influence voters, rather than letting voters hear from the candidates themselves.

I have a grassroots campaign – no big Salem money or Washington D.C. dollars here. Every email you receive from me, actually comes from me, the candidate! This is how politics should be: real people with real convictions having real conversations about real-world policies.

Contrast this with my opponents

As you can see, the company creating these postcards is on the 10th floor of a high rise on Connecticut Ave. in D.C. I’m sure they’re nice digs, but it doesn’t sound like rural Oregon to me.  Also, notice the Jobs PAC has the same physical address as the Oregon PERS Retiree PAC. Coincidence?

The political elites are so out of touch with rural Oregonians they need this polling data to figure out what values appeal to the voters. Once they know what voters want, they use their bank accounts to create a false narrative to sway public opinion.

The Republican voters in District 28 obviously told the pollsters that they would only vote for a principled, trustworthy, and conservative candidate.

So, the PACs create a false claim that the write-in candidate is the “True Conservative.”  But we know that this hand-picked lackey will abandon us after his first lobbyist luncheon; after all, his candidacy is being paid for by special interests!

Enough is enough.

Let’s show these liberal PACs that we can’t be bought or fooled. Vote for true rural Oregon values, with a true rural Oregonian candidate! I have a proven record of standing against special interests and standing up for our small towns, communities, farmers, ranchers, and hard-working families.

Thanks for your vote and support!

Linthicum best choice in Senate District 28

Back in 2013, I had some questions for Dennis when he was our county commissioner.  I found him very professional and understanding of my concerns with regard to county management.  He was very approachable and was genuinely concerned with the subjects that I brought to him.

He also shared my values with regard to the Constitution of the United States and our community here. I believe Dennis has the values that represent this county, rural Oregon, and what we all stand for. He is a family man, businessman, property owner and rancher herein

Klamath County and not a career politician. We truly need him and men like him to help straighten out this state.

He is for reducing regulatory and tax burdens on business.  He supports the proper utilization of Oregon’s vast forest and mineral resources.

He’s against this insane dam removal process on the Klamath River and supports the redefining of all hydropower facilities as renewable energy sources.  This will ensure clean, affordable, and abundant energy supplies here in the basin for generations to come.

Dennis is against the continually growing government and one that tells us how to live.  He will support our liberties and work to give us our state back!

He wants to return control of our community back to the local level where we truly know what our community needs. We know best how to run our schools, law enforcement, and even how to irrigate our lands.

A vote for Dennis Linthicum is a vote for common sense economics, local control, Constitutional, and family values and will be a great start to straighten out our state government. Please vote with me and support Dennis Linthicum for State Senate District 28.

Linthicum has what is needed in District 28

Our candidate for Senate District 28 must have solid family values, have demonstrated strong social and fiscal conservative philosophies, be willing to fulfill his oath to uphold the Constitution, be a forceful speaker and good writer, and above all, must be willing to speak out effectively for the rural values our constituents hold dear. Dennis Linthicum possesses all these attributes and more.

Dennis, with his wife of 36 years Diane, has lived a deeply religious social and fiscal conservative rural lifestyle while raising their two kids. Their children are happily married, gainfully employed college graduates.

As Klamath County commissioner, Dennis demonstrated his willingness and ability to politically develop those social, fiscal, and conservative values. He worked hard to limit and prioritize county spending, and slow the encroachment of state and federal government regulation and control.

Dennis is a consensus builder who knows how to compromise and to get things done while consistently refusing to undermine the constitutional values that we hold dear.

Dennis takes his oath to uphold the Constitution seriously. He will continue to protect and advocate for freedom of speech and the right to assemble, freedom of religion, private property and irrigation rights, our Second Amendment rights for self-protection, and the Tenth Amendment rights for states to self-govern.

Dennis is an outstanding speaker who has written dozens of contemporary political essays. We are confident he will make an outstanding State Senator. Gail and I ask you to join us in voting for Dennis Linthicum for Senate District 28.

Sure Guardians of Liberty

Last week, Diane and I joined with hundreds of others to hear KrisAnne Hall in Prineville, Oregon.

KrisAnne is an attorney and former prosecutor who travels the country teaching the Constitution and the history that gave us our founding documents. She spent all day (in three different meetings and settings) connecting a vast array of historical events and painting a poignant picture. Her presentation did a wonderful job of “connecting the dots.” She used history to powerfully stress the fact that ideas have consequences.

It reminded me of the famous saying, “Every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.” (Mt. 7:17) And so it is with ideas – good ideas produce good results and bad ideas, bad.

Today, more and more people are wondering about the limits of government because they are challenging the bad ideas that come from big government. This is good news. Our culture needs people who are willing to consider these things.

FDR and his “New Deal” brought the Socialist/Progressive ideas to Main Street America. He promoted a big, fatherly government watching over its citizens, regulating their economic affairs, protecting them from fear, want, and hunger while insuring their “general welfare.” During the Great Depression, these ideas sounded promising. However, across America today we see the destructive results of government overreach.

America was built on the solid foundation of constitutionally limited government, individual liberty, and free-market economies.

The prevailing sentiment today is overwhelmingly in support of regaining America’s traditional approach to self-governance, family, and freedom.

The small minority of people spouting today’s confused claims for socialistic betterment can only do so with other people’s resources and money. This is where the average person awakens. It always happens when you feel someone’s hands in your own pockets.

Yet, the minority keeps claiming it will be better if we would just let the controllers control us. I disagree. The evidence is in and the results stink.

KrisAnne gave one example that particularly hit home since I am on the campaign trail in Oregon’s 28th Senate District.  She quoted James Madison’s words,

the State Legislatures will jealously and closely watch the operations of this Government, and be able to resist with more effect every assumption of power, than any other power on earth can do;”

It was Madison’s sincere belief that the State Legislatures were “to be sure guardians of the people’s liberty.”

Although quotes like this seem outmoded because they were made 230 years ago they are still relevant and directly applicable.

Take ObamaCare for example. We don’t need to put the House, Senate, and Presidency into the hands of Republicans to repeal it because we can void it at our state’s legislature.

The same goes for the recent attempts to destroy the clean energy hydroelectric facilities on the Klamath River. This issue does not rightfully belong to FERC, Senators Merkley, Wyden, Feinstein, or Boxer but rather it belongs to the people of Oregon and California.

Chief Justice John Roberts told us as much in his opinion for the first ObamaCare Supreme Court challenge – NFIB v. Sebelius. Justice Roberts made it clear and he firmly reiterated the idea that our state governments have the duty to defend the powers they retained under the U.S. Constitution.

Justice Roberts wrote, “In the typical case we look to the States to defend their prerogatives by adopting ‘the simple expedient of not yielding’ to federal blandishments when they do not want to embrace the federal policies as their own.”

Justice Roberts then added, “The States are separate and independent sovereigns. Sometimes they have to act like it.

As your next State Senator, I will be proud to defend Oregon’s prerogatives, while jealously and closely watching for, and resisting, every assumption of power by any agency or body that has not been delegated that authority under our US Constitution.

Oregon has a way to go, but we will prevail!

My thanks to KrisAnne Hall and all of those across Oregon, and in Prineville, who realize that “We the People” are the solution to Oregon’s problems. who realize that “We the People” are the solution to Oregon’s problems.

“If once [the people] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, judges, and governors shall all become wolves.”
– Thomas Jefferson
